Frequently Asked Questions

What version of Ableton Live do your devices work in?

MPE Envelope is compatible with both Live 11 and Live 12 Suite but will not work in earlier versions, as MPE capabilities were first introduced to Ableton with Live 11. Additionally, MPE Envelope can modulate monophonic parameters using the familiar click-to-map system. Live 12 users can benefit from the new mapping and modulation methods introduced in this version, while Live 11 users are limited to the "remote" style mappings found in the Live 11 versions of Ableton’s Shaper, Envelope, and LFO modulation devices.

Swing only works with Live 12 Suite, as MIDI Tools are a new type of Max for Live device introduced to Ableton with the release of Live 12.

Can an instance of MPE Envelope modulate pitch, slide, and press at the same time?

No, a single instance of MPE Envelope can only modulate one control type at time. However you are able to use multiple instances of MPE simultaneously to modulate multiple control types simultaneously.

Can parameters in Swing be automated?

No, unfortunately MIDI Tool parameters cannot be automated.

Why does the MPE Envelope sometimes blink red?

It blinks red to tell you that it's loading, and as such, it may not function properly during the period in which it's blinking.

In addition to blinking when the device is first loaded, it also enters this loading phase after edits have been made to the first point of your modulation envelope. If you are playing MIDI notes while making changes to the first point, the device will wait until all MIDI notes have stopped before entering this loading phase.

How does Swing’s “Swing percentage” parameter relate the Push's “Swing Percentage Parameter"

50% swing in our device is equivalent to 100% swing on a Push
